After their 3-0 whitewash of defending state champ Bellefonte on Monday, Indiana High takes on District 3 champion East Pennsboro this afternoon in a PIAA Quad-A quarterfinal game at Mount Aloysius College, and on Renda Digital TV.
Indiana brings a 14-10 record into the game after a tough battle through the WPIAL while East Penn is 20-2 and last lost on April 20th. They are riding a 14-game winning streak and beat Thomas Jefferson, another WPIAL team, 11-4, on Monday.
Indiana beat East Pennsboro, 2-1, in last season’s first round before falling to Bellefonte in the quarters at Mount Aloysius.
Coach Dan Petroff says it would be nice to win at The Mount.
Petroff will be starting Greg Minnick on the mound today, and he says the right-hander will be ready after having last pitched last Wednesday in the WPIAL championship game.
Petroff says his team knows what it has to do to win.
Today’s game airs at 1:40 on Renda Digital TV, with first pitch scheduled for 2 o’clock, presented by Mark Arbuckle Nissan and Thomas R. Harley Architects, LLC.
There is PIAA baseball happening today at First Commonwealth Bank Field in Homer City, with a doubleheader scheduled to begin at 4 o’clock.
The first game is a Double-A matchup of District 5’s champion, North Star, against District 9 champion Redbank Valley.
Game Two is a Triple-A battle between District 9 champ Punxsutawney and the third place team from the WPIAL, South Allegheny, scheduled to begin at 7.
