The Pennsylvania Senate has approved a bill that will create the Independent Energy Office (IEO) and the Pennsylvania Opportunity With Energy Reliability (POWER) Board.
According to a news release from Senator Joe Pittman, the IEO will provide analysis that will make sure that lawmakers have reliable and necessary information to review and implement current energy strategies with an eye towards future innovations. Meanwhile, the POWER board will be a public clearinghouse for energy development in the state and “allow residents to see public accountability on decisions that impact energy prices in Pennsylvania.”
Senator Pittman said that this legislation will support working families and help them stay in Pennsylvania.
Pittman also said that for the state’s energy grid to maintain itself, there must be an all-of-the-above strategy by having all the available energy sources complement each other.
