William James “Bill” Rising, 69, of Indiana, passed away on Sunday April 28, 2024 at his home with his family by his side after a courageous 15-year battle with black lung.
He was born January 28, 1955 to Gifford P. and Lucy (Pennington) Rising in Indiana.
Bill was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Clymer, United Mine Workers Association Local 1412, a former member of Clymer Fire Hall and a former Clymer Little League baseball coach. Bill was a 1974 graduate of Penns Manor High School. He spent 24 years as a coal miner for R&P Coal. He was a member of UMWA, … He enjoyed going to camp hunting, fishing, and family vacations to Ocean City, MD. Most of all Bill loved his family. He loved his boys but his grandsons were the apple of his eye. He never missed a game or event they were participating in.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Wanda (Coleman) Rising, two sons William M. “Bill, Burr Head” Rising (Stacy), Adam J. Rising (Amy), all of Indiana, five grandsons, Gaven, Camden, Brayden, Bryce, Nolen, a brother George Rising, Clymer, close family members Jaime and Douglas Rising, good friend Steve Polosky (Cindy) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 3-7 PM at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home, 898 Old Hwy. N., Indiana, PA 15701. Friends will also be received on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
