Indiana County school districts have been awarded $1,732,984 in state School Safety Grants for the current fiscal year. The funds were announced this week, and include Meritorious Grants based on school size, Mental Health Grants, which have a baseline of $100,000 augmented by a formula depending on school size, plus Competitive School Safety and Security Grant Funding, which is a more sizable award.
All Indiana County school districts will receive Meritorious Grants and Mental Health Grants and Homer-Center and Penns Manor will receive Competitive Grants. In total, Homer-Center will receive $546,339, which includes the Competitive Grant of more than $406,000. Penns Manor will get $348,652, including more than $209,000 as a Competitive Grant. The rest of the award amounts range from Indiana Area’s $174,601 to Purchase Line’s $140,285. ICTC, which is not eligible for the Meritorious Award, gets $70,000.
A second category for non-public schools awards safety and security grants of $75,000 to St. Bernard Regional Catholic School, $42,000 to Calvary Baptist Academy, $12,000 to Seeds of Faith Christian Academy, and $6,450 to ARIN IU 28 for administrative costs.
