For the second straight year, students and faculty from the Indiana County Technology Center were presented with an award during the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters luncheon Friday morning in Harrisburg.
The team won Best Production for their work in the Broadcast NOW! initiative, which had students from several schools across Pennsylvania creating videos to promote careers in the broadcast industry. Students and instructor Melaney Brubaker once again highlighted Renda Media for their project, showcasing the day-to-day aspects of Todd Marino, Lauren Marshall, John Smathers, and Jake Slebodnick.
Brubaker said it was exciting to win in back-to-back years.
Brubaker adds her students learned that there’s more to broadcasting than just being on-air.
Morgan Nagy, a sophomore from Homer-Center High School, also worked with her fellow students and Chris Garritano in the contest. She said her interest in pursuing a media-related career grew throughout the process.
