State representative Jim Struzzi and Senator Joe Pittman have announced that $14 million in PENNVEST funding will come to the Indiana County Municipal Services Authority.
The money is a combination of $8.65 million in grant money that does not need to be repaid, and a $5.36 million low-interest loan. The money will go towards six projects:
- Installation of 25,900 feet of new water line along Route 403 in Buffington and Pine Townships.
- A new water line from the county line in Pine Township along Route 422 to Iverson Road in Blacklick Township, Cambria County
- Extending the Heilwood Water System along School Road in Cherryhill Township
- 38,000 feet of new water line between Penns Manor and Uniontown, which will interconnect with the existing Cherry Tree water system
- Building a pre-fabricated above-grade booster station for the Crooked Creek water system
- Replacing two-inch and six-inch pressure-reducing valves in the Ernest Borough area.
In the joint statement, Pittman said that the funding will go a long way to improve the local water systems with new water service and emergency interconnections with neighboring systems. Struzzi said that the new projects and the funding for them will also keep any rate increases to a minimum.
