BASEBALL
In the first game of a two-game set, North Catholic nipped Indiana. Jake Slebodnick recaps the Indiana loss. (2-1.)
The same two teams play again today at North Catholic, which now leads Indiana in WPIAL 4A Section 4, with a 6-1 record. Indiana is 5-2.
Marion Center scored 2 in the 6th and 2 in the 7th to come back and beat Portage, 5-4. Noah McCoy had 3 hits and Hunter Reichenbach had 2 hits and 3 RBIs for the Stingers. Justin Morgan, Connor Binaut, Jake McCoy, and Brad Cochran all had 2 hits for Portage.
River Valley beat Penns Manor, 9-4 as Zeke Doak went 3-for-3 for the Panthers.
Conemaugh Township took a 2-0 lead in the 1st inning, but Northern Cambria scored a run in the 6th and 2 more in the 7th to win, 3-2. The Colts had 5 hits by 5 different players and Trey Pershing and Shane Gisler each drove in a run. DJ Bambino had 2 hits for the Indians.
Cambria Heights took the lead with 2 runs in the 2nd and went on to a 6-1 win over West Shamokin.
SOFTBALL
Indiana beat Woodland Hills 17-0 last week. They beat them again yesterday, 15-0. Olivia Zimmerman had 2 hits and drove in 3 runs. Haley Hamilton had 2 hits.
Marion Center drubbed Portage, 10-0. Kayla Hill had 2 hits and homered. Cheyenne Silvis struck out 7 in the circle.
West Shamokin blitzed Cambria Heights, 13-4. Avery Elkin had 3 hits and drove in 4 runs. Aleya Talmadge had 3 hits and drove in 3. Maria Young, Malena Stewart, and Madi Keirn each had 2 hits.
In 9 innings, Homer-Center topped River Valley, 7-6. Neither team provided details.
Northern Cambria hammered United, 16-1. Braelyn Pattison had 3 hits and drove in 4 runs. Skye Bernecky had 2 hits and drove in 3. Ava Messina and Rylee Stine each hit home runs.
TRACK & FIELD
United hosted Purchase Line and Conemaugh Township for a track & field tri-meet.
