BASEBALL
Indiana couldn’t escape an error-plagued start and dropped their second straight non-conference game, 5-4, to Bethel Park. Indiana finished with seven errors. Ben Ryan hit a home run for a third straight game. Andrew McGee added three hits including a double. Sully VanHoose struck out three in three innings of one-run ball. Indiana returns to action Monday to take on North Catholic in a section matchup on Renda Digital TV.
Homer-Center entered the fifth down by one but scored five runs to pull ahead of Kiski and they won, 11-4. Brayden Rado started the comeback, singling home a run to tie it. Nate Birchall stole home to give the Wildcats their first lead, then Caleb Palmer added two more with a single. Rado finished the game 3-for-5 with three RBI, while Nash Budner went 2-for-5 with two RBI. Noah Turk earned the win after striking out six and allowing four runs, one earned, over six innings.
Penns Manor topped Ferndale, 3-1, at home. Carter Smith went 2-for-2 with a double. Connor James tallied seven strikeouts and allowed just one earned run on four hits in a complete game effort.
Moniteau scored once in the first, once in the fourth and twice in the fifth to down West Shamokin, 4-1. Dawson Wallace held the Wolves to just three hits while posting eight strikeouts for the Warriors. Ben McConnell, Logan Geist and Vince Harkleroad each had a hit for West Shamokin.
SOFTBALL
Indiana downed West Mifflin, 4-2, in 10 innings. Addie Stossel’s squeeze bunt put Indiana in front then Olivia Zimmerman added insurance with a two-run home run. Zimmerman also had a prolific day in the circle, striking out 16 hitters while allowing no walks, one run and four hits in all 10 innings. Ella Myers and Maggie Cunningham each picked up multiple hits.
