A Florida man charged with leading police on a chase during IUPatty’s weekend is due in court today for a preliminary hearing.
34-year-old Brandon Rosenberger of St. Petersburg is facing charges of felony fleeing or attempting to elude police, misdemeanor counts of evading arrest on foot, resisting arrest and DUI-Controlled substance along with 17 summary driving violations in connection with the incident on March 22nd. State police said a trooper on IUPatty’s detail on Philadelphia Street saw a red Pontiac Sedan speed directly in front of him. Police tried to pull him over but he continued to flee, leading police on a brief chase that ended when he pulled over on Church Street. He got out and tried to flee on foot but was subdued when police deployed their tasers. At the time, police said that he was high on meth and was awake for five days.
He has been in Indiana County Jail since his arrest as he was unable to post $50,000 cash bail. The hearing is set for 10:45 this morning before District Judge Susanne Steffee.
