Pennsylvania’s Auditor General has announced that an Indiana County fire department relief organization had some negative findings in a recent audit.
The audit for the Creekside Volunteer Fireman’s Relief Organization had three findings against it in a compliance audit conducted for 2019 to 2022. The organization was cited for failure to maintain surety bond coverage, erroneous deposits of funds and inadequate investment records. Officials with the Creekside Volunteer Fireman’s Relief Organization have agreed with the findings and steps have already been taken to make sure the errors have been corrected, including the purchase of bond coverage in March of 2020, partial reimbursement of the fire company on three occasions, and measures to improve their bookkeeping.
The report has been posted to the Auditor General’s website, and the public is able to review it by clicking here.
