The State System of Higher Education announced that the board of governors yesterday approved collective bargaining agreements for three unions representing faculty, coaches and nurses in the state system.
The contracts are retroactive to July 1st of last year and will run through June 30th of 2027. The faculty contract with APSCUF includes salary increases of 4% in year one, then 2%, 1.5% and 3% in the following years, along with a step increase each spring semester, with faculty at the top of the pay scale receiving a one-time cash payment of 2.5%.
The coaches’ contract includes seven salary increases over the four-year period starting at 4% and then alternating increases of 2.5% and 2.0%, with the final increase being 2.25%. It will also include regular payments of $450 for regular full-time and part-time coaches with two years of service on July 1st of next year and in 2026.
In a statement, PASSHE Chancellor Dan Greenstein said the agreements “allow our colleagues to catch up with inflation and set a course for the future.” APSCUF union president Dr. Kenneth Mash said that the contracts “take a step toward recognizing (the teachers and coaches) contributions in seeing their universities through difficult times.”
PASSHE also announced that it came to terms on a new collective bargaining agreement with the OPEIU for contracts for nurses at the state system schools. It includes salary increases of 4%, 2%, 1.5% and 4% over the four years, and step increases each January.
