IUP will honor six people with the distinguished alumni award this Saturday.
The awards ceremony will be held this Saturday, but some of the alumni are already on campus and will meet with students in their respective fields over the next few days. The six who are being honored this weekend are:
- Susan Burig, a graphic designer and film producer who has worked on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Fast and the Furious franchise, “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” and “Django Unchained”
- The Honorable Daniel Clifford, administrative judge of the family division of the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas
- Bergitta Controneo, COO of the American College of Physicians
- James Haslett, award-winning pro football player and coach
- David Holben, professor of nutrition and a distinguished scholar at the University of Mississippi
- Carolyn Violi, an Indiana native who has produced shows on Broadway and the resident musical director and accompanist for the University of Alabama at Birmingham

The award is the highest award given by IUP to its alumni and recognizes those who have achieved distinction in their chosen fields or who have demonstrated loyal and active service to the university.
