The 22nd brush fire of the year in Indiana County was reported Tuesday night in Young Township.
Indiana County 911 dispatched the Coal Run/McIntyre Volunteer Fire Department at 6:01 PM to a home on Hancock Road for that fire. Chief Dan Briggs said that the homeowner was burning leaves and the fire got out of control. The homeowner was able to make a quick call to 911 and the fire department had apparatus nearby, so they were able to provide a quick response.
Briggs added that it was a 50 by 50 foot area that burned, but crews were on scene for about 45 minutes. No injuries were reported.
Along with the brush fire, Clymer firefighters were dispatched to set up a landing zone at 5:18 PM on Sherman Street, and a physical rescue was reported on Juneau Road in Canoe Township at 6:16 PM.
