A preliminary hearing will be held today for a man suspected of intentionally setting fire to an apartment in February.
State Police charged 29-year-old Kailum Jamal Miller of Indiana with four counts of each arson with danger of death or bodily injury and reckless endangerment, five counts each of arson-related reckless endangerment, dangerous burning and reckless burning or exploding, three counts of possession of explosive or incendiary materials, and single counts of risking a catastrophe, criminal mischief and failure to control a dangerous fire.
The charges are connected with the fire at an apartment complex at 310 Maple Street in Indiana. Crews were called out on February 12th at 11:55 PM. The fire started in Apartment F where Miller lived alone, Police said that he lit a mattress and a coat on fire with a small lighter before fleeing. He was later picked up by police. The fire displaced three people, but others were able to return to the apartments.
Miller has been in Indiana County Jail since his arrest as he was unable to post $100,000 bail. His hearing will be held today before District Judge Suzanne Steffee at 1:15 this afternoon.
