Kerri Lynn (Colvin) Ballas, 58, of Penn Hills, formerly of Indiana, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2024, in Greentree. She was born on October 11, 1965, in Kittanning, to the late Harold Keith and Phyllis Adelle (Parsons) Colvin.
Kerri was a 1983 graduate of Indiana High School. She worked various jobs until her health no longer allowed it. Her most recent employment was with Innovative Controls, Inc. After Kerri battled breast cancer in her 40’s, she became very involved in the Susan G. Komen Foundation. With the foundation, Kerri was named chair of the 2013 Pittsburgh Race for the Cure. Her team’s name was Paint Pittsburgh Pink. She was a member of the Pink Honor Roll and was also awarded Pittsburgh’s top 25 in individual race fundraisers. In continuing with her philanthropic endeavors, Kerri co-directed the IUP Shoot for the Cure Classic for many years.
In her free time, Kerri enjoyed kayaking with her children, gardening, baking, and spending time with her cats Rusty and Ellie. She was also a member of the Breast Cancer Survivor Dragon Boat Team. The team is aptly named Pittsburgh Hearts of Steel.
Surviving Kerri are her children Connor and Blair Ballas of Penn Hills, two brothers Keith Colvin of Indiana, and Chris (Rose) Colvin of Lititz, PA, and two nieces Emily and Holly Colvin.
Kerri is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
A memorial service will be held in the Calvary Presbyterian Church, 695 School Street, Indiana, at 11 AM on Saturday, April 13, 2024, with Reverend David Hanna officiating.
