The preliminary hearing for an Indiana man suspected of arson was continued to a later date on Tuesday.
Court officials say the hearing for 29-year-old Kailum Jamal Miller will be rescheduled to a later date. State police charged him with four counts each of arson with danger of death or bodily injury and reckless endangerment; five counts each of arson-related reckless endangerment, dangerous burning and reckless burning or exploding; three counts of possession of explosive or incendiary materials; and single counts of risking a catastrophe, criminal mischief and failure to control a dangerous fire following an incident on February 12th.
First responders were called to an apartment complex at 310 Maple Street around 11:55 PM for a fire that started in Apartment F, where Miller lived alone at the time. Troopers say he lit a mattress and a coat on fire with a small lighter and fled the scene soon after. The fire displaced three people.
No date has been set for another attempt at the hearing.
