An Indiana County man charged with kidnapping two children from a home in New Kensington and sexually assaulting one of them in 2021 was ordered to serve time in prison.
On Wednesday, 60-year-old Eddie Lambert, Jr. of Saltsburg entered guilty pleas to two counts each of kidnapping a minor, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, endangering the welfare of children, and corruption of minors along with single counts of aggravated indecent assault of a child, unlawful restraint of a minor and indecent assault of a person under 13 years of age. The charges were connected with an incident in on September 6th of 2021, where he kidnapped a nine-year-old and a six-year-old child in New Kensington and took them to a local store where police said he molested the older girl in the back seat of his vehicle. He assaulted the elder girl a second time at his home and a third time at a Sheetz store in New Kensington before calling 911. When police confronted him at the store, he threatened to hurt himself and dared officers to shoot him before leading police on a chase through Westmoreland and Allegheny Counties before he was eventually arrested.
Westmoreland County Judge Scott Mears ordered Lambert to serve between 20-40 years in prison, according to the negotiated plea bargain. He will also serve six years of probation when he is released.
