Heavy rains that ravaged through Indiana County this week brought hefty flooding to several areas. One seeing the worst of the damage is in Marion Center, as their little league teams saw their field disheveled from the impact of the weather.
League Vice President Jeffery Sweeney said the flooding yielded heavy erosion, dirt piles and broken fence around the field. Because of this, he and other league officials are asking the community to help with reclamation efforts this weekend in hopes of starting the season on Monday.
Sweeney says a major point of emphasis will be on the dugouts, as they took on a good amount of damage.
Anyone interested in volunteering can stop by both Saturday and Sunday between 9 AM and dark to help. If you would like to make a monetary donation, message the Marion Center Little League Facebook page and ask for Cari Bailey, the league treasurer.
