One of the world’s leading opera singers will start a tour of North America in Pittsburgh tonight, and there will be two connections to Indiana County in that concert.
Andrea Bocelli will perform tonight at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh and joining him as a guest performer once again will be Indiana High Graduate and opera baritone Edward Parks. Parks graduated from Indiana High School in 2002. During his time there, he was a part of the A Capella Choir, Madrigal Singers and Men’s Chorus, and involved in their musical theater program. That has propelled him into a career in opera, taking third in the Operalia competition in 2015. In 2017, he was honored with a Grammy as a cast member on the recording of the opera “The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs” and has been a part of several operas across the United States. This marks the second time that Parks has toured with Boccelli, having been a part of his North American Tour in 2021.
Also, Indiana University of Pennsylvania has confirmed some IUP Choral students will also be a part of tonight’s concert event. Details on their contribution to the performance are forthcoming.
Tonight marks the first stop of the North American Tour, as it will stop in Cincinatti, Milwaukee, and other cities in the US and Canada before heading overseas.
