BASEBALL
Homer-Center led Portage 7-2 in the bottom of the 7th and held off a Mustangs rally for a 7-5 win. Braden Dunn had two hits for the Wildcats and Owen Sainai and Ethan Roser each had run-scoring doubles. Saiani got the win and Dunn the save for Homer-Center.
Northern Cambria came from behind for a wild 15-14 win over Marion Center. The Colts led 8-0 before the Stingers rallied with an 8-run 4th. Northern Cambria answered with 3 in the bottom of the inning, but Marion Center scored six in the 5th before the Colts scored single runs in the 5th and 6th and two in the 7th. Ty Dumm doubled and drove in four runs, including a bases-loaded walkoff walk in the 7th. Brad Valeria had 3 hits for Northern and Zach Locard had two hits and 3 RBIS. For Marion Center, Camden Rising doubled and had 3 hits and 4 RBIs. Dalton Stenman and Noah McCoy each had two hits.
Cambria Heights clobbered Penns Manor, 13-2, as Garrett Jasper had 3 hits and 4 RBIs and Ethan Kline and Anthony Swander each had 2 hits and drove in two runs. For the Comets, Carter Smith and Justin Vojtek each had two hits.
Conemaugh Township topped West Shamokin, 13-3. The Indians’ Larry Weaver and Colin Dinyar each homered and had two hits, and DJ Bambino had three hits. The Wolves’ Jude Olinger had a hit and an RBI.
SOFTBALL
Alaina Fabin homered and Gigi Palmer had 2 hits, including a double in a 5-0 shutout of Portage. Melanie George also had two hits for the Wildcats while Ava King scattered 3 hits and struck out 3 in the circle.
West Shamokin hammered Conemaugh Township, 22-0, in three innings. Lily Jordan had 3 hits, with a home run. Avery Elkin had 3 hits. Aleya Talmadge had a home run and two hits. Alexa Plavi, Malena Stewart, and Cameron Vandevort all had two hits.
Marion Center scored 7 runs in the second inning and broke open their game against Northern Cambria. The Stingers won, 12-2, as Lydia Miller had a grand slam and a double and drove in four. Kayla Hill had 2 hits and drove in two. Cheyenne Silvis also had two hits. The Lady Colts’ Makayla Formeck had two hits.
Cambria Heights’ Sidney Nihart struck out 12 batters and Gina Lane had 3 hits and 2 RBIs in a 9-2 win over Penns Manor.
Conemaugh Valley got by River Valley, 8-5. Megan Belak had 3 hits and drove in three. River Valley’s Emily Skirball had 2 hits and drove in three. Lilly Buckles and Bailey Dunlap each had 2 hits.
