Jared Jones has still not given up an earned run this spring after he went six innings yesterday in the Bucs’ 4-1 Spring Training win over the Red Sox in Bradenton.
Jones gave up one unearned run on only four hits, while walking four, a day after he missed a scheduled start against the Orioles due to a rainout. The Pirates moved him to Saturday after they granted Chase Anderson’s request for release. Anderson asked to be let go when it became clear he would not make the team.
Jones left the game trailing 1-0 but the Bucs tied it in the 7th on a Connor Joe sacrifice fly. Edward Olivares then launched a three-run home run in the 8th for the game-winning margin.
