Governor Josh Shapiro will make his second budget address on Tuesday in the Rotunda at the State Capitol, and on Indiana In the Morning on WCCS last week, both State Senator Joe Pittman and State Representative Jim Struzzi said they’ll be listening for details on Shapiro’s spending plans, which have been lacking since the governor announced ambitious plans for higher education, basic education, public transportation, and a comprehensive ten-year plan for economic development.
Both Pittman and Struzzi, who are members of their chambers’ Appropriations Committees, said they want to know where the governor proposes the state find the money to fund his plans. Struzzi says that halfway through the current fiscal year, Pennsylvania is more than $70 million below estimates on General Fund revenue and is behind by more than $150 million on tax revenue.
The budget address will be held in the Rotunda because the House chamber, which is the traditional location for it, is undergoing repairs.
