Charles “Chuck” L. Small, 84, of Glen Campbell, PA passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023.
The son of Charles I. and Lois Jean (Lowman) Small, he was born on July 6, 1939 in Gipsy, PA.
Chuck was a graduate of the Purchase Line High School, Class of 1957.
He married Cuba Ann Mumau on February 4, 1961 and together they had five children: Gary Small of Clymer, PA; Guy Small of Glen Campbell, PA; Thomas Small (stillborn); Daniel Small (Pam) of Gipsy, PA; Lana Ratay (Ed) of Penn Run, PA; six grandchildren: Natalie Moran (Zach); Shane Small (fiancé Chelsea); Shawn Small (Stephanie); Anne Small and Justice and Gretta Ratay; three great grandchildren: Reese and Owen Moran and Ivy Small and Mary Putt Small, whom he thought of as a daughter.
He worked various jobs throughout his career, for the last fifteen years prior to his retirement he had been employed by IA Road Construction.
Chuck was a member of the Glen Campbell American Legion; the Montgomery Twp. Rod and Gun Club and the Clymer Slovak Club.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but Sports was always on his mind – basketball, baseball and football! He played it, he watched it and he read about it!
Chuck enjoyed not only watching his own kids play ball, but was excited to watch his great nephew play at PL up until his last few weeks of life!
He is survived by his wife; his children and their families and three siblings: Ron (Priscilla) Small; Don (Dorothy) Small and LuAnn (Jim) Smith.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Thomas and his siblings: Harold and Virgil Small.
Family and friends will be received from 5-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, PA. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Friday, October 6, 2023 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., immediately followed by an 11:00 a.m. funeral service with Pastor Jim Smith officiating. Private family interment will take place at Rowley Cemetery, Hillsdale, PA.
