Pennsylvania State Police have released their statistics from the Labor Day weekend enforcement period.
Troopers say they investigated 671 crashes over the four-day driving period between Sept. 1-4., 61 of which were alcohol-related. This marks an increase of 23 crashes investigated from last year. Ten people were killed across eight fatal accidents, two of them were alcohol-related.
Troopers also made 514 DUI arrests this year, a decrease of one from 2022. They issued 9,110 speeding citations, 233 child seat citations, 864 seat belt citations, and 17,339 other citations.
Across Troop A, which covers large portions of Indiana and Westmoreland Counties, along with all of Cambria and Somerset Counties, 52 crashes were investigated. One fatal accident was reported and one person was killed while 12 others were injured. Four crashes were alcohol-related, however no one was killed in those types of crashes. They also made 40 DUI arrests and issued 536 speeding citations.
