September brings with it a new quarterly “price to compare” for Penelec’s residential customers, and it’s falling for the next three months. The quarterly rate is dropping from 10.021 cents to 9.703 cents per kilowatt hour. The rate set in June was an increase to 10.021 from 8.443 cents per kilowatt hour.
The price to compare reflects the cost of electric generation and transmission. It’s one of the two parts of your electricity bill. The other is the delivery/distribution rate, which is not adjusted quarterly, and includes the operation and maintenance of the equipment, poles, wires and other infrastructure.
