A man charged with dragging a state trooper alongside his car is scheduled to be sentenced today in Indiana County’s Court of Common Pleas today.
Court documents show that 30-year-old Matthew Allen Rebar will go before Judge Michael Clark for a sentencing hearing at 8:30 this morning. On February 25th of 2022, state police were contacted by a woman who said that she and Rebar were involved in a dispute and he was on his way over to confront her. When troopers arrived, they found him in his car with the engine running outside the apartment complex where she lived. When a trooper approached him and asked him to shut off the car through an open window, Rebar put the car in gear and started to drive away, dragging the trooper 30 feet before he was able to pull free. The Trooper had a minor injury.
On June 23rd of this year, Rebar pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with attempt to cause bodily injury, fleeing police, DUI-controlled substance, possession of marijuana and of drug paraphernalia, and three driving-related summary crimes.
