The American Red Cross has announced their annual blood drive that will honor those who died on September 11th, 2001.
“9/11 day” was launched in 2002 as an annual day of service to honor the heroes and victims of the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington DC and the crash of Flight 93 in Shanksville, PA. It is now known as the National Day of Service and Remembrance thanks to a proclamation by the U.S. Congress in 2009. This year, the American Red Cross has scheduled a blood drive to be held at Freedom Church, formerly known as the Indiana Church of the Brethren, on September 9th from 9 AM to 3 PM.
Not only is the Red Cross looking for people to donate blood at this event, they are also looking for volunteers as well. If you want to help, you can contact Karen Sistek at 724-237-9645.
