The River Valley School District has teamed up with South Allegheny School District to help them create a Cyber Security Academy.
South Allegheny becomes the second district in the U.S. to partner with CompTIA Apprenticeships for Tech to develop the Cyber Security education program. As a result of that, the district will receive $250,000 from the Richard King Mellon Foundation for the program. The partnership allows both districts to provide instruction, certification, and apprenticeship opportunities through its Cybersecurity program.
In a statement, South Allegheny Superintendent David McDonald said that with 45% of their students entering the workforce, students need exposure to in-demand occupational careers, and the partnership with River Valley and the Richard King Mellon foundation will help do just that.
