In advance of one of the hottest days of the year, the National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory that will start at 11:00 tomorrow morning.
Temperatures are expected to reach a near-record 91 degrees tomorrow, and with humidity factored in, Accuweather predicts that it will feel like 100 degrees in much of the county tomorrow. Much of Western Pennsylvania will be under this advisory until 9:00 tomorrow night. The only area not affected by this will be the upper ridges in the southeastern portion of the county.
The National Weather Service says prolonged exposure to high temperatures will cause heat-related illnesses like heat exhaustion or heatstroke. They recommend people remain hydrated, stay in air-conditioned rooms and out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is also advising that those working outdoors should have frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas. Anyone who is overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location immediately and call 911.
