A man who pleaded guilty in connection with an incident where he dragged a state trooper alongside his car will be sentenced today in Indiana County’s Court of Common Pleas.
Court documents show that 30-year-old Matthew Allen Rebar of Connellsville is scheduled to go before Judge Michael Clark today. On February 25th of 2022, state troopers were called out to 310 Maple Street at 4:30 PM as a woman called police saying that she and Rebar were involved in a dispute and was on his way over to confront her. When troopers got there, he was sitting in the apartment complex’s parking lot with the engine running. A trooper approached him and asked him through the open window to shut the car off. Rebar put the car in gear and started to drive away, dragging the trooper for about 30 feet before he was able to pull free and fall from the vehicle. The trooper had a minor injury.
Rebar pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with attempt to cause bodily injury, fleeing police, DUI-controlled substance, possession of marijuana and of drug paraphernalia, and three driving-related summary crimes.
