Oral arguments are scheduled for today in Indiana County Court in the case of a man who is charged with corruption of minors and inappropriate touching.
The attorney for 43-year-old Douglas Walter Hutchins of Johnstown and the County District Attorney’s office will be in court today to make their presentations. Hutchins was charged in September of 2019 after police investigated an incident that happened the previous month at an apartment in the 700 block of Philadelphia Street. Hutchins encountered a then-13-year-old, and the touching was reported as inappropriate. He was originally charged with corruption of minors, indecent assault of someone under 13, and indecent assault without consent, and in December of 2021, he pleaded no-contest to the Indecent assault without consent, but in September of 2022, the plea was withdrawn. Amended information filed on October 6th of 2022 show that he all three charges will now proceed to court.
A pre-trial conference is set for September 15th.
