For the fifth year in a row, tuition rates will remain the same for some students in the State System of Higher Education.
At a meeting held this morning, the Board of Governors for the State System voted to freeze tuition rates. The decision keeps tuition from inflation, which would have increased costs by about 21% from 2018. In-state undergraduate tuition will remain at $7,716.
In a statement, Board of Governors Chair Cynthia Shapira said that freezing tuition was a major priority for the universities in the system to serve the roughly 85,000 students.
She also thanked the state government for increases in state funding over the past few years. The 2023-24 budget, which has yet to be passed completely, contains a $33 million increase to PASSHE universities.
