State system of Higher Education administrators will meet today and a possible tuition freeze will be brought up for a vote.
Today is the quarterly meeting of the PASSHE administrators in Harrisburg. A vote in favor of the freeze would keep tuition for Pennsylvania residents at $7,716, which is the rate it has been since the 2018-19 school year. The technology fee of $478 would also remain unchanged. Enrollment is reportedly down across the state system by about 29% from 2010 to this year.
According to a statement accompanying the tuition proposal, controlling the cost of tuition, and using the tuition and institutional aid in a strategic manner will be keys to keep the cost to students and their families low.
