State Representative Jim Struzzi has called for an examination of public transportation from a rural perspective.
House resolution 174 would task the Legislative Budget and Finance Committee would conduct a comprehensive study of mass and public transportation in Pennsylvania rural communities. Struzzi, a member of the House Transportation Committee, said that while there are some companies like the Indiana County Transit Authority that do a lot of great work, but there are still cases where it is difficult for those in outlying areas to get to work, medical appointments, and other destinations. He added that they need to know where the gaps are in the system and what solutions are out there.
Under the resolution, the committee would have a year to present the General Assembly with its findings and recommendations.
