UPDATE:Dayton fire chief Barry Lockhart said that crews were on the scene for about four hours fighting the fire at an Amish furniture shop. The exact cause of the fire is unknown, but it’s believed that the cause may have been a large engine in the woodshop itself.
The building is a total loss. Chief Lockhart said that the Amish community is coming together to help the shop owner.
WHAT WE PREVIOUSLY REPORTED
Six fire departments were called out for a fire at a woodshed in West Mahoning Township on Tuesday.
Indiana County 911 reported that Plumville, Dayton and Rural Valley fire departments were initially called out along with Citizens Ambulance at 3:42 yesterday afternoon for a call along Barnard Road. At 4:00, Marion Center and Commodore fire departments were called in to assist, and one minute later, Ringgold fire department was also called to the scene. Creekside fire department was called to standby for Plumville firefighters at 4:05 PM
A post on the Marion Center Fire Department Facebook page confirmed that the structure on fire was a woodshed and was fully involved when they arrived on scene. It is unknown if anyone was trapped in the building, and the extent of the damage has not been released.
