For the second time this month, Indiana County is under a Code Red Air Quality Action Alert.
The air quality alert was issued for most of Western Pennsylvania by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. The alert is for fine particulate matter from smoke from wildfires in eastern Canada. Accuweather meteorologist Jeff Nordeen says talks about how this will affect people.
With the air quality deemed unhealthy for the general population, and especially for vulnerable populations like the elderly, the very young, and those with heart and lung diseases, people are advised to minimize the effects by avoiding outdoor exercise or strenuous activity.
The last time the county was under a code red alert was on June 7th, and that was also due to smoke from Canadian wildfires.
