Prior to the start of the Indiana Borough Council work session Tuesday night, council held a special hearing to discuss the conditional use approval for the Indiana School District’s Eisenhower Elementary Project.
The conditional use request was for two parking lots to be added along Wine and School Streets. Indiana School District Business Manager Jared Cronauer said that this will solve a recurring problem with teachers and staff parking on the streets surrounding the school.
During the work session, council discussed at length and eventually approved a new policy concerning flags being flown at the borough building flagpoles that honor various heritages. Councilman Joshua Krasta said that they will rely on the National Library of Congress for reference as to which flags will be flown.
The vote went 7-4, with Tamara Collazzo, Luke DeBuyser, Jessica Frick and Kaycee Newell voting against the measure. Immediately following that vote, council voted 11-1 to allow the Progress Pride flag to be flown at the Indiana Borough Building in honor of Pride Month.
