The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has announced that Indiana County and the surrounding area is under another Code Orange Air Quality Action Alert.
Smoke from the wildfires from Canada making its way south have once again caused an increase in air pollution, and it’s expected to have an adverse effect on people with lung or heart diseases, the very young and the elderly. Those negative effects can be minimized if those sensitive populations limited their exposure through strenuous outdoor activity or exercise. The DEP also recommends that to reduce indoor air pollution, keep doors and windows closed use an air filter if you have one and make sure the filters are cleaned or replaced following manufacturer’s instructions.
The alert will be in effect until 12:30 tomorrow morning.
