Once again, Indiana County was not placed in a Code Orange Air Quality Action Alert, but two neighboring counties are.
Westmoreland and Armstrong Counties were two of seven counties in the greater Pittsburgh Region that are under code orange status from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. It’s believed that ash and other pollutants from wildfires in Canada are coming down to Pennsylvania and other parts of the eastern United States, causing hazy conditions that would reduce visibility and make breathing difficult for the very young, the elderly, and those with heart and lung conditions including asthma.
Once again, the alert is expected to end this afternoon at 4:00, and while it will be milder tomorrow, the haze is expected to remain in our area. A check of your Accuweather forecast is coming up in a few minutes.
