A woman charged with embezzling money from a veterinary practice in Center Township is due in court today for a preliminary hearing.
State police have charged 46-year-old Michelle Bowman on May 25th with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, and theft by failure to make required disposition of funds received for an investigation that started in February of this year. Police say that was when the owner of Frazer Veterinary Hospital notified them that Bowman, a former employee, took money from the practice over a period of several years. She allegedly deleted electronic invoices and removed the same amount of cash from the cash drawer thus resulting in a balance at the end of Bowman’s shifts. Police believe that she took over $50,000 from the practice between 2013 and 2022.
She is free on $50,000 bond.
