After a busy day on Saturday, Indiana County’s first responders were active once again on Sunday with several calls reported.
The calls included three vehicle accidents over the last 24 hours. The first was on Route 240 in Green Township. Commodore Fire Department, State Police and Citizens’ Ambulance were dispatched at 9:50 PM. At 11:46 PM, Plumville firefighters were called out with Citizens’ and State Police to a crash on Route 85 in Rayne Township. And at 1:47 this morning, Brush Valley’s firefighters were dispatched along with Citizens’ and State Police to a crash on Route 259 in Brush Valley Township. Details on these accidents were not released.
Another call that was reported was a structure fire on Five Points Road in Armstrong Township at 9:18 PM. Creekside, Indiana and Elderton fire departments along with the county HAZMAT team and Citizens’ Ambulance were dispatched at the time. Creekside fire officials said on the department’s Facebook page that the call was for initially an outbuilding or possible shed fire. Fire crews found a working fire, a small debris pile and an 8 foot fence. One engine remained on the scene while other units were cancelled.
Other calls included a physical rescue on Route 403 South in East Wheatfield Township at 6:41 PM. Eleven minutes later, Clyde Fire Department was called in for standby detail.
