Saturday was an eventful day for Indiana County firefighters, particularly Indiana firefighters, who were dispatched for eight separate incidents.
The action started just after one o’clock yesterday afternoon when Homer City, Indiana, Brush Valley, Black Lick, and Aultman were summoned to a structure fire along Two Lick Drive in Center Township. It was a fire in an apartment above a two-car garage. The flames had spread to the eaves and roof, but firefighters were able to beat back the fire and keep it to the outside area. Indiana reports there was minor damage.
Indiana was also summoned for a utility pole fire on Wilson Avenue in White Township; for a large tree down on South Ben Franklin Road next to the Lowes complex; for a rollover vehicle crash on Geesey Road near Stormer Road, in which the lone occupant was uninjured; for utility lines down on Miller Avenue near Birch Lane in White Township; for a two-vehicle collision in which one vehicle t-boned another at the intersection of Lilac Street and Warren Road in White Township; for a carbon monoxide alarm on Evergreen Drive, which was traced to a faulty water heater; and along with Creekside and Marion Center firefighters, for a structure fire last night in the Creekside area. A chair on the front porch had caught fire and melted some of the siding on a home. Creekside put that fire out before the others arrived.
Marion Center firefighters also responded late last night for a vehicle accident with entrapment on Route 119 in Rayne Township.
Plumville and Cherry Tree firefighters also answered calls yesterday for utility lines down, Plumville along Route 85 in South Mahoning Township and Cherry Tree along Cherry Tree Road in Montgomery Township. Black Lick and Blairsville were dispatched for lines down on Campbells Mill Road in Burrell Township last night
