One local police department recently received a new cruiser thanks to funds seized by the Indiana County Drug Task Force.
In a Facebook post this morning, Indiana County District Attorney Bob Manzi said the Cherry Tree Borough Police Department recently purchased a new cruiser with money seized from defendants who were investigated and prosecuted for selling drugs in the county.
This type of purchase is made possible due to the Civil Asset Forfeiture Act, which uses cash confiscated from drug raids to make upgrades around the county without using any taxpayer dollars.
Manzi said the upgrade will directly help Cherry Tree police officers and residents, surrounding communities and the county as a whole.
