During Tuesday night’s Indiana Borough Council work session, members of the community voiced their thoughts on the planned Pride Event at IRMC Park.
One of the topics discussed was the Drag Show that’s planned to happen during the event. Among those against the show was Josh Philp, a preacher within the borough. He highlighted the alleged sexual appeal these types of shows bring.
Meanwhile, Bailey Nase spoke in support of the event, saying it is a way for members of the LGBTQ+ community to express themselves.
One of the event’s organizers, who identifies as “Kat”, said they are taking extra steps to make sure there are no lewd or sexual performances, and that they want this to be a family-friendly event.
Council member Luke DeBuyser has worked with event organizers and he said they have been transparent in obeying regulations.
The event is planned for June 10th.
In other business, borough council approved the motion to extend a conditional offer of employment to eligible civil service candidate Jeremy Adamson with a tentative hire date on or before July 1st. The offer was made possible due to the funding agreement between Indiana Area High School and Indiana Borough Police.
