Today is the 2023 primary elections and several local races are on the ballot for today.
While there are no federal offices on the ballot, there are some statewide judicial races. They include nominations for justice of the state Supreme Court, superior court judge and commonwealth court judge.
Along with the county row offices, the commissioners’ seats are up for grabs this year. For the primary election, Mike Keith and Robin Gorman are running unopposed on the republican ballot. On the democratic side, incumbent Sherene Hess is running against Aaron Lehman and Justin Reese.
Voters will also be asked to nominate a new district judge for Indiana borough and surrounding areas. Meghan Foulk, AnnMarie Everett and Tony Sottile are running for the seat that will soon be vacated by district judge Guy Haberl. Meanwhile, in the other district judge race, Christopher Welch is running unopposed.
Local government offices and school board nominations will also be decided during this election. Some of the more hotly contested races include Indiana School Board, Penns Manor School Board and River Valley School board, and Indiana Borough Council.
Polls open at 7:00 AM and close at 8:00 PM.
