Senator Joe Pittman announced in a Facebook post that Senate Bills 248, 447, and 411 recently passed the PA Senate and will now head to the state House for consideration. Two of them aid veterans in starting or expanding a business, while the third presents a recreational opportunity.
Senate Bill 248 creates a Veteran-owned Business Loan Guarantee Program that would be funded through $5 million of existing dollars from another program run by the state Department of Community and Economic Development. Bill 248 also defines a veteran-owned business as one where more than 51 percent of ownership is owned or controlled by one or more veterans.
Bill 447 establishes the PA VETConnect program, where the database of resources enables local advocates to point veterans to information, resources, programs and services in their respective areas and across the Commonwealth.
Lastly, Bill 411 makes it possible for disabled veterans with 100 percent disability determination to obtain a free, lifetime fishing license.
