Gas prices are continuing to trend downward in Indiana County and across Western Pennsylvania.
Triple A reports that the national gas price average is $3.53 a gallon this morning. It is four cents down from yesterday and seven cents down from last month. Last year, the average cost of a gallon of gas is $4.40 a gallon. Pennsylvania’s gas price average is $3.68 this morning, also a four-cent decrease from last week, but only two cents lower than last month. Pennsylvania’s average last year at this time is $4.56.
Indiana County’s average this morning is $3.80, tying it with Armstrong County for the highest average in the region. The next lowest is Westmoreland County at $3.78, then Cambria at $3.74, Clearfield at $3.70 and Jefferson County at $3.66.
The reason averages are going down is because of the cost of crude oil continuing to fall. As of this morning, the cost of crude oil is about $73 a barrel. If prices continue to hover at this level or dip further, the price at the pump will also dip.
Gasbuddy.com reports that prices are between $3.79 and $3.85 in Indiana and Homer City. today, while prices in Blairsville and Clymer are at $3.79 a gallon this morning.
