Proclamations were issued to the Homer-Center girls’ basketball team for their performance throughout the season and in the playoffs. Senior Anna Cutshall said she was very happy with receiving the honor from the county.
A similar proclamation was made for the River Valley Panthers girls’ basketball team. Both teams made it to the PIAA championship game in their respective classes.
Also from today’s meeting, the Commissioners approved a change order for the county jail security upgrade project. The change will add at least $40,260 to the current phase of the project because of inaccuracies in the wire diagram booklet and the wires being mislabeled, saying that they have to trace each wire out to determine where it goes, which is time consuming. The money will pay for another 16 days for the project, and it could increase more if more inaccuracies are found.
The commissioners also accepted a grant for the District Attorney’s Office and the Armstrong-Indiana-Clarion Drug and Alcohol Commission of $500,000 which will be used to fund a medication assisted treatment program, a substance use disorder reentry coordinator at the county jail and allow an assistant DA to conduct a diversionary treatment program.
