Police in Blairsville Borough have arrested a woman from New York state after an incident involving a stolen car yesterday.
Police announced that around 10:00 Wednesday night, officers were dispatched to Route 22 just before the Route 217 ramp for a reported disabled vehicle. Police ran a check on the 2008 Nissan Altima that had New York registration on it, and discovered it was stolen from Albany. The woman in the driver’s seat was asked to exit the vehicle and she tried to flee on foot by jumping over the guardrail and heading towards West Ranson Avenue. Once officers apprehended her, she started to fight with the officer until backup arrived.
After giving police a false name, officers identified her as 31-year-old Justine Lavair of Mastic, New York. She now faces charges of receiving stolen property, resisting arrest and evading arrest or detention. She is currently in Indiana County Jail awaiting an arraignment hearing.
