IUP has announced its newest student member of the council of trustees.
At their meeting on Thursday, the PASSHE Board of Governors approved the appointment of Shagufta Haque as the new student trustee. Her term will begin when current student trustee, Maura King, graduates in May. Haque is a member of the IUP Cook Honors College and the Eberly College of Business Honors Program. Originally from Bangladesh, she completed her high school education at Indiana High School in 2021. She was a vice president in IUP’s student government, and is a student worker in the office of International Education, a tutor in the Skillzone program, and oversees the Conversation Partners program that helps with planning for both domestic and international students.
IUP President Dr. Michael Driscoll called Haque an “outstanding student leader and advocate” and said she would be an excellent addition to the council.
